Our Journey
Our Founder Melissa SONARAM
After years of unsuccessful therapy and treatment for injuries from a debilitating car accident, Melissa’s passion for sports and fitness, along with her unwavering spirit, led her to a transformative rehabilitation through yoga.
Fueled by her desire to help others, her newfound dedication, and her rejuvenated body and soul, Melissa became a certified yoga instructor. She holds certifications from organizations such as YogaKids!, Northport Yoga & Wellness amongst others.
Melissa specializes in working with individuals of all ages with physical, neurological, and cognitive disabilities. She has extensive experience in Restorative Yoga, Chair Yoga, and other adaptive yoga practices, making her classes accessible to diverse abilities.
In addition to her yoga expertise, Melissa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts with a minor in Psychology from CUNY. Her academic background enhances her ability to support her students’ mental and emotional well-being alongside their physical practice. She also worked closely with certified and trained Applied Behavioral Analyst, (ABA) Occupational, Physical & Speech Therapists enabling a broaden spectrum that she applies to her profession.
Committed to giving back, Melissa works extensively with students who have physical and developmental challenges. She welcomes people from all walks of life with enthusiasm and embraces new challenges with an open heart.
